Treat Depression - Combine Meditation and Running
If you are into running and into meditation then combining these two activities together can bring you greater benefits than doing either of these two activities alone.
A new study published in Transitional Psychiatry worked with 52 people (22 of them had a diagnosis of depression) who undertook a regime of 20 minutes of meditation followed by aerobic exercise such as running or biking.
The findings after 8 weeks were compelling with 40% of the depressed volunteers reporting a significant reduction in their symptoms while the non-depressed group reported feeling happier than they did at the start of their study.
The scientists believe the combination of these two activities have a synergistic affect on the brain.
